I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Elementary Education along with an Endorsement in Reading and Library/Media from the University of Wyoming and I have a Master's Degree in Early Childhood Education from the University of Northern Colorado.

I taught at Lone Tree Elementary from 2007-2022. After teaching kindergarten for the first three years I quickly realized teaching young children to read was my favorite part of of the day. Starting in 2010 I had the privilege to spend my days encouraging and nurturing young readers. I have retired from teaching but continue to learn daily about the science of reading and the best methods to use to help children learn to read and write.

Earlier in my career, I taught in Marshalltown, Iowa; Casper, Wyoming; and at both Fox Creek Elementary and Roxborough Elementary.

My husband, Ken, and I been married for 37 years and we have lived in Highlands Ranch for the last 32 years.  We have four children:

  • Corrine graduated with her Juris Doctorate from the Gonzaga School of Law, passed the Colorado Bar, and then finished her MLIS (Master of Library Information Science). She works part-time as a research librarian. She and her husband, Andrew, and our granddaughters, Ella and Grace, live in the Dallas area. They are expecting a baby in September.

  • Katie graduated from CU with a degree in Biological and Chemical Engineering. She and her husband, Greg, are parents to Lincoln and Lucy along with our two crazy grand-pups. They live in Lafayette.

  • Trevor graduated with a degree in Economics from Hillsdale College (Michigan) in May. He is working on his master's degree in Economics at Montana State University.

  • Taylor recently graduated from the University of Colorado at Boulder where he majored in chemical engineering. He is working as a systems engineer at Applied Control Equipment!
